Review of the Amazon Kindle

kindle-amazon-s-new-wireless-reading-device KINDLE: AMAZON’S NEW WIRELESS READING DEVICE

Suburbanmom reviews the Amazon Kindle ebook reader. It comes in a fancy box with a lot of packaging, but could be worse. It is small and thin and most people think it is pretty cool, but it looks like she got a lemon that won’t turn off and won’t connect to their network. She’s returning it and not going to get another one until they perfect it. Personally, I think Amazon should send her a free one on the house. Or at least half off.

Many people do not pay attention to the coverage provided by the Sprint network. But even if you are outside it, the Kindle supports a second network (I am okay myself, so can’t give you the exact info on it, but it is available from Kindle). In addition, if you are in a foreign country, you can copy things to your hard drive and then send it by email direct to your Kindle — no network needed other than your email account and your PC.

My understanding is that the wireless network will expand greatly over the future — for example to the UK, etc., and this will become less of a problem.

I really love my Kindle, and am sorry for anyone who doesn’t understand the joy it can bring to an avid reader like myself — reading since age 5, and now 81 years old. It even allows me to read with larger type to save my eyesight. Try that on a dead tree book.
